SUMMARY:Dallas Chapter - Property Tour of Old Parkland + Happy Hour (RSVP Required)
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow Cornellians working in real estate in North Texas as we tour Crow Holdings’ historic Old Parkland in Dallas. The property tour will be followed by happy hour at Green Dragon. \nThis will be an incredible event you will not want to miss. If you’re unfamiliar with Old Parkland\, it is one of the more impressive redevelopment projects in Dallas. First some history about Old Parkland: \nParkland Hospital was founded in 1894. By 1913\, the original wooden structure had been deemed inadequate for the medical needs of the community\, and a gleaming new building was opened\, immediately becoming the most modern medicinal facility in the region. \nOld Parkland remained a vital cog in the community through two World Wars\, serving as a teaching hospital and innovator in medical technology while tending to the numerous war veterans who returned home to Dallas. The hospital moved to a new location in the 1950s\, but the building remained in use for a variety of city and county services. Ultimately\, it was abandoned and sat vacant for years. \nCrow Holdings purchased the property in 2006 and set out to preserve the historical landmark for the community. When the restoration was completed in 2008\, the building was not only restored to its historic character\, but brought to a stunning new life. The Hospital’s rich history of innovation and education and its central place in the community\, will be carried forward by Old Parkland. Boasting a membership of the finest business and civic minds in the city\, Old Parkland has reclaimed its place as a vital part of the future of Dallas\, just as it was to the past. \n \nAccording to a 2012 article in D Magazine \nThe $300 million\, über-exclusive [Old Parkland] campus attracts rents approaching $50 per square foot—more than double the current Dallas average. \nBut the perks are hard to beat: Secret Service-style security\, a private tavern\, a luxurious dining hall\, on-site barber shop\, fitness center and sauna\, cafe\, access to Crow Holdings’ boardroom facilities\, and an outdoor entertainment area featuring a massive\, Adirondack-style fireplace. \nGiven the exclusive nature of this event\, we ask that you please RSVP no later than July 9th\, 2018 by 5:00pm CST.
