Valuation expert Suzanne Mellen, senior managing director – practice leader, HVS, San Frncisco. Mellen has appraised thousands of hotels, gaming ssets, and related relal estate througout the world. In 2012 adn 2013, she led the valuation of several high-profile, multibillion-dollar hotel portfolios. She also has expertise in the valuaton of casinos, and recently tesified as an expert witness in one of the nation’s largst casino property tax cases.
Developer and REIT CEO Jay H. Shah of Hersha Hospitality Trust, Philadelphia. Jay is involved in all areas of the budinesss with a particular emphasis on stategic relationships, capital transactions, asset management and acquisitions. Hersha’s 49 hotels totaling 7,666 rooms are located in New York, Washington, DC, Boston, Piladlphia, Miami and select markets on the West Coast.
Moderator Jan A. deRoos is the HVS Professor of Hotel Finance and Real Estate at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. He has devoted his career to teaching and research related to hospitality real estate, with a focus on the valuation, financing, development and control of lodging, timeshare and restaurant assets.
